Tales from the Paddling Pool - Part 4: One More For Duck (preview)

It's hot today... very hot.

Image

And according to Siri, it's going to be 88°F tomorrow. That's kind of unheard of for the first week of September in Britain (although I think it happened last year too).

Anyway, I thought instead of doing my new "Tales from the Jungle", I'd clean my old pool at last. Lots of spraying myself with the hosepipe more than actual cleaning, for sure, but I had a go. My Addiesdive "Hulk" enjoyed the experience and didn't let any water in at all.

Image

Filling the old pool is going to take quite some time...

The new smaller pool now has algae. and I don't trust it. There may be "things" swimming in it, you know, things which go up your pee hole and lay eggs... or so I've been told (by YouTubers, so it must be true).

Image

And I'm not going to dig any more of the garden because there are wasps around... and it's so hot that I thought I was going to have a heart attack... and... and... I'm lazy!

Image

That's as good as it's ever going to get.

But wait, there's more!!!

What could it be? Another pool?

Image

Funny thing is, I was only talking to my mate the ghost of Bob Marley on the Ouija board the other night, and he said I should order a jacuzzi.

I asked him if it would arrive in time for the last of the good weather, and he said, "Don't worry 'bout a ting, mon. Every little ting gonna be all right..." And since I trust the ghost of Bob Marley (even if he does only communicate with me in song lyrics), I asked my wife to order a jacuzzi from some online catalogue shop she uses. Next day delivery, know what I'm saying?

Image

While my old paddling pool fills, it's time to get another taste of paradise and hide from the Sun for a bit. The zero sugar energy drink is for the ghost of Bob Marley, of course. He promises to be around tomorrow for the rest of the story.

Did I mention that it's really, excruciatingly hot today? Well, it is.

Image

I can't put the jacuzzi together until it cools down later anyway, plus I need an adult to help me, but you know what having a jacuzzi means, right? Yeah, more dive watch testing all through Autumn, Winter, and Spring too!

Apparently, I may need to get a gazebo eventually, but I'm not keen on some of that exotic foreign food. Okay, I know it's not really a food, but I also only found out what the word "tsunami" meant in 2011 when everyone else heard it for the first time but pretended they always knew, and now it's commonplace instead of tidal wave. A gazebo is just a big open tent, fam, keep it real!

Image

The acquisition of a jacuzzi also means that I'll now have 3 pools in the back garden and can leap from one to the other like Shamu or something. I'll have my own water park! It will be glorious!

Image

Maybe it won't look quite as good as the one in the picture though.

Stay tuned for what could possibly be the funniest instalment of "Tales from the Paddling Pool" yet. It will be soon!

Oh can't wait, imagining you gracefully leaping from pool to pool like a cross between dolphins skimming the surf and fantasia. Love us Brits half an hour of sun and the garages are turned out for 'the pool' and the the crushing disappointment that 1 it won't blow up or 2 the mice have et it, and then Mr amazon to the rescue. Best get that jacuzzi up quick smart, you know what our weather is (bbc says its going to snow next week " because of climate change") Oh and ban kids from the water park as they only turn the water a funny colour (yellow if your lucky😖) Have fun🤪🤣

Time to Free Willy

Its always a pleasure to find out what @casiodean has been up to. The Addiesdive is now colour matched with the fantastic lawn. I was drawn to the bounty bar immediately, and the 50p. All these pools and now a jacuzzi ! I am sure it will all go swimmingly (forgive the pun) but a couple of alternatives for you...

I wish 88°F was considered hot where I'm at. 😳🤣 That would be a nice break. I need to get one of these pools so I can free my Willy... AHEM... I mean act like free Willy and cool down when I get home from work. It's still in the high 80s/low 90s, even near midnight.

😂😂😂😂 stop!

You need one of these pool fire pits for when the temp drops!

Yeah my MIL used beef dripping in her chip pan and I tell you that chip pan looked disgusting cold however when the chips come out they were lovely and tasty!

The Black Country museum has a working chippy that I think still uses beef dripping! 👅

Now they’re chips not like the pale barely cooked rubbish you get at most places 👌🏻
