This is a tough one b/c you're pitting a light dial against a dark dial. Ideally you'd get both for different vibes. Both are stunning but not in a "come look at me!" way . . . both could be THE watch if someone just needed one. Does everything, can dress up/down, GADA specs are there etc.
Shunbun is somewhat a signature color of Grand Seiko. No other brand has that hue nor texture. Not that the Suwa blue is any less "grand." But if you had to pick an iconic GS, I'd go for the Shunbun.

Two absolute favorites…Suwa is the current obsession

Got to give it to the Suwa. More versatile dial colour, no power reserve, more legible. Still by no means the Shunbun is a bad choice.

Tough choice as I really like both but I think the Shunbun is a bit more special. Now ask me tomorrow and I reserve the right to change my mind.
