What's your favorite type of tool watch?

I'm curious to find out which type of tool watch you like the most. I know this is also a question of aesthetics as much as it is about functionality or lifestyle. There's always one specific category that is in vogue depending on the trends developed by big brands. Setting that aside, what type of tool watch do you always find yourself getting back to?

Am I the only watch guy or gal that prefers using the bezel on a diver as opposed to using the functions on a chronograph? But then again I’m timing frozen pizzas in the oven not pulse rates of trauma victims. I do like my chronographs, in fact I will engage them some days and let them run for about 15 minutes and then reset kind of hoping the sub dial hands don’t reset back exactly to the 12 o’clock so I can think I’m an horologist(which I am) thus important. But a Dive style watch is the do it all for me.

Field, as it can usually pass for a normal watch.

Honestly a good pilots watch. Longines Spirit or IWC Mark models are my go to. 10bars of WR, strong bracelet and clear Legibility

Nothing beats the legibility of a pilot watch! Good point mate

Chronographs are what made me love watches at the first place. Many possible designs, Bi or Tricompax, there's a lot of fun with these, but they are not always the most easy to read. I am currently on the hunt for a Type 20 hommage, but I'd like it to have a ST1901 mechanical movement, as I own multiple meca-quartz already.

Field watches are the best everyday watch because of the simple design, easy to read and quite sturdy. The general dial layout have a few variations, some with small second hands, but it's generally the number markers that stands out. Lots of brands have their twist on this type, so it's easy to find one that pleases you. They are generally strap monsters, so have fun with any type of strap. I own a khaki field and it's my go to watch, just change the strap and it can go into any situation.

GMT is growing on me. At first I was't a fan of pepsi bezels and thought it was useless in today's years to have a fourth hand for 24hrs. It slowly grown on me to appreciate it until the Longines Zulu time came out, this watch is now one of my grail watch.

Dive watch is the type of watch I enjoy the least. They generally are bulky watches and it the main appeal seems to be around the bezel, while generally I prefer watches that have small bezels. GMTs with their bezels are growing on me, GMTs are often divers watches, so maybe I'll find one someday(Mido Oceanstar GMT is a hidden gem), but I generally prefer Pilot/Field watches, I rarely get impressed by a diver. I only have one that comes in my mind that might be tempting, it's the Baltic aquascaphe in blue, that, is a good looking watch.
