Mecha quartz has 2 different meanings depending on who you talk to. OP means Mecha quartz as in a quartz watch with a mechanical function, like quartz with a mechanical chrono. The other meaning is the one you are using. Neither is right or wrong.

I don't think many non watch people purchased them. My only experience is through the Internet so take this with a grain of salt but from what I have seen it was mainly people that were already into speed masters that were buying these things. So IMO swatch group was targeting people that would buy speedmaster clones and homages and gave them something in their budget. Which is cool but I think they are overpriced. If they were $150 or less I would buy them. For $250+ they are too close in price to watches that I would consider better or more interesting.

It seems to be a nice watch but I'm not sure it's nice enough to post about it 5 times in a week.

Edit: and if you work for/own the brand then IMO you should disclose that.

That plus tritium would make basically the perfect aviator watch for me.

$75 in 1973 would be about $525 in today's dollars.
