Gerard Perregaux 1st Quartz.

The first commercially available Swiss Quartz watch. Deep 70’s kitsch and feeds my GP obsession at a non crazy price from super interesting dealer Gisbert Joseph in Mallorca.

Nice! There is a Gerard Perregaux quartz watch from the '70s that is one of my grail watches; the Casquette.

It's a driver's model like the Bulova Computron, and I would love to have one for my collection.

A very cool & interesting watch, do you know what movement was used in it?

·

I really like that. What's the lug to lug?

It’s an in house Gerard Perregaux movement developed away from the other Swiss Manufacturers who had banded together to make a new battery powered quartz movment. Gerard Perregaux went their own way though and got their watch out first, and that’s why these watches are known as “1st Quartz”.

I haven’t measured but as you can see, it has no lugs and is about 46 across, I would say

They did reissue it recently but it's pricey as hell at more than 4000 US dollars.

Yeah, that price is what keeps it as a grail instead of a definite future purchase. 😅

Well, it's more of a grail for digital watch fans, indeed.

Was this like the Beta 21 with a sweeping seconds hand, or does it tick more like a now-traditional quartz?

I never really understood the appeal of this model...
