A Great Value Dive Watch

This is the Vaer D4 Solar Diver. Vaer is an American microbrand based in Venice, California. They are known for making American assembled watches with a water resistance guarantee and American movements. Swiss and Japanese movements are offered if that's your preference.

This is a 38mm dive watch with an Epson solar quartz movement. It also has 15 layers of C3 Superluminova. Water resistance is 200m. It's incredibly accurate, clean and durable. I have taken this to cliff diving, swimming and hiking. It still keeps accurate time and there are minimal scratches.

This particular model is discontinued but their latest model is available. It has a different looking dial but the specs are the same. You get a rubber strap and a second choice strap or bracelet. I went with their quick release premium bracelet. Very comfortable and solid. I also bought a black NATO strap from them for a more tactical dive watch look.

For less than $500, I highly recommend this watch!! A great value small dive watch. If you have bigger wrists, Vaer does offer a 42mm option. Also, if you want a date window, that's also an option.

I’ve seen this around online but hasn’t looked into it at all. I don’t live far from Venice. Gotta support local. Checking their site now

I highly recommend them!! I have this and their C3 Tradition. Really great value, great quality and great customer service

I also have the D4 solar quartz and I can’t say even good things about it. Incredible value and it certainly looks the part.

I've always liked their divers, especially the Tropic. Usually I'm not too keen on homage watches, and this is a fairly obvious homage to the Le Coultre Deep Sea Alarm, but nobody else has yet resurrected that classic design. So kudos to them. Vaer probably deserves more love around here.

I did not know that!! I feel like the D4 Solar Diver is an homage to the Mil-Spec OMEGA Seamaster 300 and the OMEGA Planet Ocean 2500

There really isn't anything wrong with this watch. This is perfection in my opinion

Of course!! Not many people know about Vaer but it's a great microbrand!! Their catalogue is insane

The VAER solar divers are probably the best value proposition a person can hope to find in watches. I also have this one; it looks and feels better than many watches four times the price. All of their bracelets and straps are quick release which make them extremely versatile. I wish they made a version of this one with fixed lugs. One of their founders wears the D4 daily while surfing, so I guess the spring bars are doing their job.

It really feels more expensive!! I had no problems with the spring bars. For very demanding activities, I wear this on a NATO. Still holds up!!

A “lowly” S3, but got me into micro brands. 36mm, stainless case, quartz movement, 100M water resistance. Survived old man surfing lessons which included a fair amount of getting bashed up on coral and rocks. As far as I’m concerned it’s indestructable!

Vaer does make tough watches!!

I don't feel the need to have a collection of dive watches (yet.) I love my Scurfa Treasure Seeker. But if (when) I get another dive watch it will be Vaer, either the solar or tropic.

I have three in my collection!! This one, the Lorier Neptune and the OMEGA Seamaster Professional GoldenEye mid size edition. I plan to post a review of each of them talking about three dive watches at three different price points

I had a VAER D4. It’s a watch that has great spec’s and good value for money. Sold it though as despite the spec’s I found it kind of ‘unremarkable’ and it didn’t get much wrist time.

I do like VAER watches though and often scan their website and consider buying another.

That is very nice!

I get what you mean. This can be seen as a "boring" design but I like it!! It has a timeless look. Plus, small dive watches are pretty hard to find these days

Wow never heard of them! Looks like a fun brand tbh with interesting designs that definitely don’t try to copy-cat anything but instead borrow classic elements.
