Two GADA's comparison

Hello Crunchers,

I thought to share with you a quick comparison of these two watches in my collection.

On the left, is the Citizen NB1050-59H automatic, and on the right Citizen CB0260-81L Eco-Drive.

As you can see they are very similar in case size and shape.

The Eco-Drive is 40 mm in diameter while the automatic is 38 mm.

Lug to lug is the same, 47 mm, as is the thickness around 10.3 mm. Lug width is 19mm on the auto, and 20 mm on the Eco-drive.

The automatic has a display-back.

Weight, sized for my 17cm wrist: 120 gr for the auto, 79 gr for the Eco-drive.

The Eco-drive is titanium, and the automatic is stainless steel.

Both are 100m WR with push crowns.

Both have Duratect coating. You can appreciate the difference in the color of the bracelets, the titanium is lighter in color and less shiny, although the auto's bracelet is only brushed.

The polishing level on both bezels as you can see is mostly the same, which speaks of the quality of the work done by Citizen on the titanium one.

Accuracy: the auto is doing about 3-4 spd and the Eco-drive is about +3 sec/month, without time signal reception, (it is radio-controlled with perpetual calendar and world time).

The Eco-drive is right now my grab-and-go watch, always ready and on time, but the auto is also one I keep reaching for almost every day, I really like the grey dial and also how the bracelet reflects the light.

Speaking of the dials, both are perfectly legible at all times. The auto has a sunburst effect and the Eco-drive is matte with a subtle pattern of stripes.

Both have sapphire crystals, but only the auto as AR coating, so it's a winner in that regard, and also it has lumed hands and markers.

I am very happy to have both in my collection, they are durable, comfortable, understated, and classic-looking watches that fit on any occasion, so they are perfect GADA's in my opinion.

Seems like a perfect pair to me. I could totally see someone stopping with these & moving forward with a simple 2 watch collection.

Both great, I have looked at the Eco-Drive radio control Citizens a few times, as you know they have a few models so its finding the right one for me. I am moving away from mechanical watches lately, too much hassle getting serviced etc.

Indeed, any one of these can work even as a one-watch collection.

I thought I had a good variety of models in my small collection that coverer different styles and types but I was missing a GADA: something not too expensive, not too fragile, that I could wear anywhere without worrying too much about it. These ones both fit that role perfectly.

Eco-drive is perfect for that: years without maintenance, not even a battery change, just keep it charged exposing it to light regularly.

My Promaster Eco-drive is 14 years old and it's still keeping maximum charge without replacing the accumulator yet.

If you add radio-controlled to the equation, it is pretty much set-and-forget.
