Bluesy: Rolex Submariner Two Tone Review

When does Rolex spoil us for choice? It’s usually with the hard & impossible to get options. As with many enthusiasts, there is always that watch that captivated you and you went down the collective for that one watch. For me, the black sub with date.

As a kid, I always admired my uncles and dad’s friends who had owned the sub. It was always so cool to me. Like it’s a tool watch, sturdy, reliable but has that playful side to it.

One uncle, had a two tone black and gold. Every time I saw him, I would think to myself wouldn’t it be cool it was blue and gold? In 2022 this watch was gifted to my brother and me. While we take turns using it. It’s that watch that does it for me. It is a tool watch, a sub. But it has that memory for me. Of that uncle who had the first ever two tone in my memory. I love how watches can do this for us.

Pros: super sporty, fun and playful. It’s a sub to tell everyone I’m here to have fun. It has all the functionalities of what a sub should be.

Cons: the gold is ever scratching. It’s a magnet for getting skuffs. It’s too eye catching at times.

If you are thinking of getting a Rolex submariner and you can’t get the usual black dial and the rest are impossible. Try their two tone options. Go for it and give it a shot. For me, it’s amazing that it’s linked to a story or even a memory of one of my uncles. I hope if you do make this choice it will be filled with lasting memories.

The bluesy. Just the nickname alone is full of playful and fun.
