Seiko SRPK17 or Seiko 5 GMT?

Really torn between this two pieces and there’s a sale going on now. Seiko 5 GMT function wise definitely > the reissue SRPK17, but still, that vintage vibe looks so good. While having one more gmt means I have an alternative to my Rolex exp2!

Which one will you guys go for and think I should? And why? 🥹 Need to firm up before 23:59 as it’s an 11/11 sale. 🙏🏼 Thanks all in advance.

Edit: Seiko 5 GMT is $100 cheaper than the SRPK17

The extra function of the GMT sounds like it'd be more useful to you.

Ironically I've got the 55th anniversary Seiko 5 & looking to sell it, but I'm the other side of the planet.... Its a nice watch but I bought it out of FOMO and just don't wear it.

The bracelet is pretty crap, not very flexible and very "round" so doesn't conform to the wrist very well, but the watch itself is as excellent as you'd expect from Seiko. So if you do opt for the 5 then budget for a new strap/bracelet too.

Hope that helps.

Good luck 👍🏻

I would go GMT. Super cool colorway. Lots of lume. Better looking bracelet and an actually useful complication (gmt). Both are really cool watches though. You can't go wrong with either one

No first hand experience with the SRPK17. Cool looking watch though. As Inkitatus reports the SRPK17’s bracelet is a weak spot.

I did however just try on a SSK003 at a department store yesterday. Gorgeous dial, classic SKX case, useful date and GMT complications, and a jubilee bracelet that looks great and felt very good on wrist. Overall a compelling piece hence my vote foe the SSK003. Alas I have two SKXs and two GMTs already so it wouldn’t fit in my collection, so I’ll be passing on the SSKs.

Let us know what what you decide and pics when you get it!

Thanks man. Yes I’m caught in between function and aesthetic. Not saying the Seiko 5 gmt sunburst blue dial doesn’t look good. Heard the bracelet on the SRPK17 is really crap too. Hmmm thanks man!

I’ve owned both, the GMT checks more boxes for me. Unless you’re a vintage guy…

Got the orange dial GMT and it’s beast for the price. Love the two toned bezel and the dial. It really pops as a watch. The blue is a bit more subtle but I’m sure would still stand out.

The 55 anniversary reissue is waiting for me at Xmas. No experience of it at the moment but having seen it in the flesh its a cool watch.

They are at different end of the spectrum so hard to compare.

Thanks mate. In the end I pulled the trigger for the GMT. At SGD $376, I suppose it’ll be dumb of me not to snag it

I eventually went for the SSK03! Gave it a really deep thought and felt the function win hands down plus price at SGD376 was too good to miss. Thanks for the sharing and advice man!

That’s a steal at that price and you won’t regret the purchase.

Check out clockwork republic for rubber straps. They have end links and work really well.

Thanks for recommendation! You read my mind! Was thinking to grab some straps to go with this piece indeed

Alex, YOU DO YOU. Which ever you chose should be right for your reasons.

I’ve to say…This piece is really gorgeous in hand. No regrets whatsoever in getting it! Surprisingly I’m ok with the bracelet and clasp. 🫣
