Watch tools

Any recommendations for a tool kit for adding/removing links from metal bracelets? I am good for a tool to swap non-metal bands but want to try my hand at dealing with metal bracelets

For pin or pin & collar bracelets I like to use a hammer and punch. For screws, a good set of screwdrivers (I use horotec). And get a bracelet holder block as that is used on any type of bracelet

For removing a bracelet, as long as you have drilled lugs, then use a cocktail stick. Does the job with zero risk of scratching. 👍🏻

There's also the dental floss trick for straps!

But this is why I strive to always get quick-release straps whenever possible...

I just got a cheap assortment pack from Amazon for about $15 and I've done bracelets from a $40 Casio to a $4,000 Omega with no issues.

If it's something you do often then perhaps invest in very good Swiss tools, but if you're like me and you size them once then leave it, the affordable tools are perfectly serviceable.

It depends on the bracelet, but for pins, all you need is this:

Add a 1mm precision screwdriver and a Bergeon springbar remover for the full kit to tackle everything else.

This came with my Brew Metric. Has worked well. You can find them on Amazon, etc. Has worked well for most applications.

Also bought an economy tool and upgraded the tips for less than a premium tool price. (In other words, a meh handle and Bergeron tips is cheaper than a Bergeron tool.)

Is this a single kit? If so, what is the name?

Yes, it's the kit available on Amazon.

JOREST is the brand, but there are others available.

I picked up the one on the right to remove a link on my Seiko. Worked well enough, although the height-adjustable plate on that small silver jig is not flat at certain heights.
