Help me pick - Omega or Breitling

I have a milestone coming up. Looking to add a handsome 3 hander dressy/sporty black dialed watch on bracelet. Looking to buy used and spend under $4k. I have a collection of about 15 watches, so I don't have any "holes" in my collection but simply want to treat myself. I narrowed it down to the two following watches: Breitling Navitimer 8 and the Omega Aqua Terra 41 mm. Both are handsome. Both are from reputable brands. The Omega clearly has a superior movement. The Breitling is thinner and a bit more contrarian which has an appeal. Which would you get? I am interested to hear your thoughts on why you DID NOT pick the other one. Full Discloser: I sold a Breitling Aviator 8 last year and regret it (different color, though).

I would pick the Omega because it's just the more knows brand and I never heard someone complain about the quality of Omega.

Also the Breitling looks a bit boring in my eyes.

The Omega has the better movement. If I was to get a Navitimer, I would go for the more traditional (and much more expensive) model.

Face of the Omega just looks more classy.

I‘d try to find the right Omega Railmaster, if faced to choose between these, but that’s me.

The rail master is a bit too retro for me.

I am genuinely surprised by the results of the survey so far (90% in favor of the Omega).

AT is just so perfect as a sporty dress GADA piece

I would choose the Breitling Aviator 8 / Navitimer 8 over the Aquaterra...  8 days a week!

My handle here on WC used to be @omeganut, and yet the Breitling would be my choice, because it's the best Breitling I can think of.  I used to own the Aviator 8, and then sold it, and I dearly regret it.

  • It's an incredibly comfortable watch at 41mm diameter and only 10.7mm thickness
  • The ETA 2824-2 caliber is going to be incredibly robust and reliable and relatively easy to fix / cheap to service down the line
  • The friction bezel is AWESOME

I can't think of any Breitling I'd rather have.  Sh*t.  I think your post has just convinced me to buy this watch again!

If it was a regular Navitimer my vote would have gone differently.  I normally prefer Breitling over Omega, but that Omega is freakin gorgeous!
