G-Shocks and Smaller Wrists

I mentioned in an earlier post that, during this COVID-19 / Remote Work era, I‘ve found myself wearing a digital watch more often than not.

Knowing this led me to once again think long and hard about adding a G-Shock to the collection, but I’d always been concerned that even the smaller squares would be massive on my 6.25-inch wrists.

Eventually, with the release of the GMS5600, I gave it a shot. Seeing how that wore, and how much I loved it, I (as one does, it seems) picked up another G-Shock, this time the GW-M5610U-1CJF. The blue-tinted display and overall blue-ness of the watch made it very hard to not buy (I love blue). When I slapped it on my wrist upon arrival, I was admittedly shocked (ha!) at how comfortable and… not massive it felt.

Since then, the GW-M5610U-1CJF has been in heavy rotation, becoming my designated Zombie Apocalypse Watch, and I have been heavily considering one of the smaller "Casioaks."

Anyway, story aside, to my fellow small-wristed watch enthusiasts who have been on the fence: I high recommend giving a G-Shock a go, especially the squares.
You might be pleasantly surprised as well. 🙂

Well you can look at female models as well,i ended up purchasing a GMA-S140-1A without even noticing it was a woman's model.

Definetly one of the most beautiful g shocks in person and with the dimensions of 49×45.9×15.8mm it definetly fits on my wrist (not perfectly) for reference a seiko 5 which is 37mm,11.5 thick and 40 lug to lug fits me like it was tailored for my wrist

I dont have small wrists but I love my 5600.

I love my Rangeman and Gravity Master. And I have 6 inch wrist...

G-Shock Rocks! But you can't have just one.

It's surprising how well the G-Shock squares wear on the wrist. I've got similar sized wrist and the GW-M5610U fits me so well. It's basically like a larger (yet not oversized) Casio F-91W. As well as having all the great features like solar, multi-band, and world time.

I also have a GA-2100 which just about fits ok. But I'm thinking about picking up a GMA version at some point as that has similar dimensions to the "Squares".

That's helpful info, @Filip.K.  I had never considered looking at women's G-Shock's.  If I ever decide that my Vostoks aren't cutting it as beaters, I might have to see what G-Shock can offer in my size.

Its not just the g shocks though! There are a lot of examples where watchmakers make the exact same watch but with a smaller size and label it as woman's so make sure to always check out(casio does this a lot) :)

So true

Yes, the 5610s are actually a tiny bit shorter lug-to-lug than the 5600s.

In the purely mechanical world of watches, men wear anything from 36mm to 44mm and above, so there is nothing wrong about your taste (or wrist) !

In the 1950's, a man's watch might have been only 33mm or 35mm for that matter.

That you like what you wear is the most important 😁

I second this

The square G-Shock fits remarkably well on smaller wrists.

It is a timeless design.
