Help with my custom watch build

Hey everyone,

I'm new here and I would like to assemble my own skeleton watch. I believe that the follwing case and movement are compatible, but would appreciate being sure about it. Does anyone have experience with watch assembling ?

Here are the pieces :

Case : Boîtier de montre PVD en acier inoxydable, 46mm, argent poli, adapté au mouvement 6498 6497, boîtier de montre avec verre minéral, étanche 50M | AliExpress

Movement : 21600 bph Hollow skeleton 6497 movement Hand winding fit for Vintage men's watch | eBay

👍 As he's tagged he will see this at some point, but there are others who may be along too.

I can't add too much tbh. It looks like the case and the movement should work but I'm really not sure if any movement spacer would be supplied/required. You will need to trim the crown stem to fit the case; not sure if you have experience with that? It's not difficult but it is easy to get wrong. You'd also need to ensure the hands match the pinions on the movement. Bit difficult to see if the sizes are given.

I would probably stay away from AliExpress and use a site like Namoki who can supply all the parts you need. They'll be more expensive but they're designed to work together and will reduce the risk of a complete fail.

I'm not on commission and neither is @Deeperblue 😉

Thanks so much @Gasworks & @Deeperblue

  • Having seen plenty of videos about how to trim the crown, I'll be careful not to trim too much!
  • I'll make some research on the pinions to get the right hands, thanks for the advice.
  • The Namoki website doesn't seem to exist in my country... I'll still try to find an alternative to AliExpress.

Now, I think that my next big challenge will be to find a skeleton-compatible dial or create one myself!

For example; Generally Seiko hands/pinions are 1.5mm, 0.9mm and 0.2mm (hours, minutes and seconds) but there is variation across movements/manufacturers
