Back in 2008, I turned 40 and hosted a rather large party to celebrate with my friends. The party was memorable, and I received many wonderful presents, including two Nintendo Wiis.
This was somewhat disheartening because I've never been much of a gamer. I lean more towards being an 'action-oriented' person, with action sports playing a significant role in my life since my youth.
Without informing my friends, I decided to sell my unused Wiis and purchase something more in line with my interests. Something with a 'longer lifespan' than the hottest game console of the 2008 season.
I had always been interested in watches, so I decided to repurpose one of the Wiis into a watch. The online watch shops in 2008 were not as advanced as they are today, so it took some time to find a reliable seller with quality products.
Finally, I found what I was looking for: a rose gold-capped late 1950's Constellation Calendar, which had recently been serviced by a reputable dealer in the US. I bought it for 400 USD (which was 300 EUR back then).
The watch arrived in about a week to Finland and has since become one of my favorite timepieces. It will always remind me of my friends and their appreciation for me on my 40th birthday.
I think it's the best-looking Wii I've ever seen 🤩 Have a great weekend, and remember, LiG - Life is Great!

Nice "Wii"!
A very wise decision!! Enjoy the hobby..👍
First, beautiful vintage Omega! Secondly, best decision ever! Great back story and post! This Omega will forever be connected with a game console in the best way!!
I have Nintendo AND watches! I beat the system!
Lovely watch. Not a gamer either, would rather do real stuff, like collect nice Omega's 😉👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you, Danilo, for your kind comment. Maybe I'll do more posts like this in the future 🙏
Nice Omega, will certainly have a longer lifespan than a Wii. To be fair I still use my Wii if not weekly then monthly. But I am not just a watch 🤓.

Thank you, @Inkitatus, for your nice comment - and getting into #vintage is easy, you just have to start somewhere 🤩

Dear W-tone, fellow suomalainen 😉- I think that the Wii concept was cool, but have never been into gaming. And me, I'm not a watch 😎, or at least not a collector - merely an enthusiast.
[Love the cat - what breed is it?😻]

She is what on Reddit is referred to as a standard issue cat. Basic "maatiaiskissa".
Cool way to fund a really nice watch. Now if only I could find a couple of friends who want to gift me Wii's... Erm, do they still make Wii? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm so behind the times 😎

@Yonder - methinks that the Wiis from those days have actually become antiques with rising values [😂]

Even better. I can get my friends to check in the bottom of their cupboards and under their beds, for discarded Wii's.. that really doesn't sound right, does it? 😯
