A $5 timex mechanical

Found this gem at a thrift store. Around 35mm. After a strap upgrade and a crystal polish it’s a looker. One of my most complimented watches….. which I didn’t expect.

Absolutely! collecting timex is fun and easy on the wallet while saving up for other things

I'm always tempted by vintage Timex pieces, but my jam is repairing them, and I've read/seen that they're not exactly designed for the hobbyist to service. Perhaps some are easier than others?

Still, for $5 I'd have been all over that, too! It's flat out gorgeous.

I've never done it but I've heard that the recommended "service" was to pop the movement, remove dial, and soak in lighter fluid, let dry and reassemble. Some day I'll have something on which to try this.

This one has that sweet spot of looking a bit vintage but not fussily or anachronistically so.

Oscar that’s exactly what I did to a recent Great Britain made find.
I also re lubed it with silicon oil very lightly. It was running 15mins fast in about 8hrs but the m24 movement is actual very easy to regulate. So far I’ve got it down to 2 mins fast. I’ll post it when I replace the glass.
