Longines Spirit Noisy Rotor

Hi everyone,

I purchased this Longines Spirit 37mm about a month ago, but recently I noticed it's quite loud when moving around. I've owned quite a lot of automatic watches and don't think I've come across a similar sounding rotor, except for maybe a miyota 8000 series calibre. I've linked a video of the noise when the watch is shaken about to highlight this. The noise isn't very noticeable on wrist, but I'm concerned that the rotor sounds like it might be scraping.  Accuracy wise its running within COSC and power reserve is fine. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance :)

This is normal, I have a longines master collection that sounds the same, but isn’t noticeable unless I shake my wrist around like crazy, which doesn’t really happen.

My new Spirit Zulu Time rotor is also a bit noisy.

I only notice when I swing my arm around close to my ear.

One thing that does bother me is the slooooow date change. It starts on time but it‘s not done till about 1:30am.

Other watches I have click over instantly.

Not a major deal since it is after midnight. If it hangs up, I’ll send it in for warranty service.

I think this is one of those subtle differences you can find between watches that some people think is a bigger deal than others. My experience is that higher-end and more luxury watches tend to make less rotor noise than more affordable watches. I'm not going exactly sure why, but it is something to consider when making a purchase and another reason to try on a watch in person before buying.

I still have an old Seiko watch with a kinetic movement that makes a ton of noise when you move around and which you can also feel the rotor moving while wearing. It was a decent watch for the l ice but it driv a me crazy and part of why I don't like it overall.
