NWA - Orient Mako Chronograph, Black

This just came in today. Really happy with it, got a good deal on Jomashop and the watch feels like it is 5x the price. The Speedtimer from Seiko is what opened my eyes to Solar Quartz, and the golden panda is the second time I bought that watch (bought and sold the black dial variant in the past).

While I loved the wearability and the low maintenance, once I found out about the Orient Mako line, I was sold. To me, it's better specs for half the price. Now have a diver's bezel, massively improved lume, and double the water resistance. To me, the increased size was also a plus. I was on team small watches for a hot minute but I've now embraced the fact that some watches could, and should wear large. Especially if they are a chrono diver.

The Mako/Kamasu case is amazing. Perfect proportions and nice attention to detail with a slopped bezel and chamfered edges to make it appear thinner. 👌

In my opinion, it beats the offering from Seiko in a similar price bracket and, dare I say, it also looks more premium than the lazy slabsided Tudor bricks/watches. 🤫

Yep, agree. I've owned a number of luxury watches and this Orient actually feels luxury on the most part. No blemishes finishing wise. To be fair, I did take it off the bracelet, which is probably the cheapest feeling part of the watch. I also note that my speedtimer pushers do feel a bit crisper than this one. But overall I've never got this much watch for the money, IMO.
