Bought my first 'serious' watch, (my Oris Big Crown Pointer Date) new in 2005 after remembering being in awe of a whole display of them in a dealer's shop window some 20 years earlier.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
As a five-year-old, I was given a watch by my parents one Christmas, which I still have somewhere. The first I bought as a young teenager was an Ingersoll digital, bought in Woolworths around 1983 after being impressed by the identical one that a fellow cadet had.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
If avoiding impulse/heart-felt purchases, (and you probably should if possible) then be honest about your 'must haves' and take your time in research - there really is so much choice.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Kleynod, Bulova, Movado, Michel Herbelin, Kronos and many others
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
My own 'bling option' Chopard Jacky Ickx Edition 3 comes closest to a 'grail' watch so far - much as I admire many a fancier/more complex/better made alternative.
