I own the SLA043 and don’t find it dressy at all, quite the opposite actually. What makes you feel deflated? It certainly grows on me and the quality is every bit as good as my Rolex 16600.
my biggest complaint for the SLA043 is the OEM rubber straps which are too stiff and have zero taper.

I felt deflated because I saved for the watch but I loved them visually since release, I found the watch too shiny and glossy it just looked too much like a dress watch to me, plus I think abit too vintage... I overanticipated it to myself.

That’s the beauty of everbrilliant steel used by Seiko. its supposed to be the most corrosion resistant steel and is even whiter and brighter than Rolex 904L.
@Ultrav1 Do you still have your 043? I'm just interested because, well two reasons, when I got my Baltic Aquascaphe I was a bit underwhelmed and a tiny bit disappointed too as it was smaller than I expected. Then one day while looking for the time the sun just caught the dial in that way that can't be described and I realised I had purchased a beautie.
The second reason why I ask is because I'm saving like a good thing to buy an 043 lol
