The GS9 Club….Your mileage may vary

In case you’re wondering why you haven’t heard back from them yet, yeah that’s a good question.

1st attempt: bought a GS, registered to join, waited 2 months, never heard back.

2nd attempt: bought another GS, registered to join, got approved after 3 days.

I did use a different email the 2nd time, but I can’t imagine that made a difference. With the 1st attempt it would have been nice to hear: “sorry you don’t qualify because….”, but nothing still.

Anyway, if you’re interested in joining, keep trying. Who knows what goes on at GS HQ

….other than the waves of lake Suwa gently laping the shore in the moonlight on a Winters night.

GS9 sounds like a "hero squad" me and my friends pretended to be part of... when we were 9 🙃

What perks does it have? Is it so you can get the invites to the Seiko launch events and such?

Unlike Rolex, as a club member you don’t experience 2-3 year waitlist on pieces, you can walk into an AD, try them on and buy them or order them on online boutique.

Had a GS for 3 years but registered last year and got an acceptance notice within a day or two.

Are you saying they’ve closed the books recently? Seems odd to me.

I can also do the same as a non-member

Doesn’t seem much of a point joining GS9. Enjoying my Shunbun regardless.

·

I enjoy it just for the articles they shoot out via email about their upcoming work or spotlighting their employees.

I have to say, it's worth something here in New York City, their ground zero where they hold lots of events. I've eaten so much Grand Seiko sushi. Though it's not worth the premium if you can get a decent discount somewhere other than an AD.

Yup, they had a great event here in Kuala Lumpur. Loads of food and drink. And I got a serious discount when I bought my GS from the AD. All good!
