Worth it for a SBGX?

Here is my dilemma:

I really want a SBGX261. It’s the perfect size, awesome tech and a perfect everyday watch. I’ve put together a really nice collection recently and have quite a few special watches. The problem is that I am not easy on my watches and it makes me fearful to wear a 40 year old watch no matter how much I love it.

Conclusion: I want to sell my

Seiko 7a28-7030

Studio Underd0g watermelon with custom strap

Timex HODINKEE edition Waterbury

Buy new or pre owned GS

Will those watches get it done? Will I regret it?

I don’t ever sell watches so I’m new to the sell to buy thing

I have no idea ! I am saving for a GS quartz myself but I am year or so away. I have sold watches and nearly always regretted it. Not in every case but unless you dislike the watch I would try and hold on. Of course I do not know your finances, but as I said before, nearly always I have thought "wish I had kept hold of that and saved a little longer" If your not easy on watches get a G-Shock for everyday. Good luck either way.

I own an 063, the double signed champagne version of the 261. I have to say, I love it and I wear it literally every single day. Here’s my highlights.

Movement:

The accuracy is nuts. Off by 2 seconds after 4 months of wear. I also really like the anti-backlash system for the second hand, it’s a mesmorizing motion.

Dial:

The dial furniture is second to none. You will never see a a sharper, more precisely finished handset. Even the detail of the indices is almost unbelievable.

Case/Bracelet:

I didn’t like how thick the links were before I purchased the watch, however I see why they are so thick after wearing the watch daily for a few months. The heft of the bracelet allows for perfect balance between the bracelet and the watch head. This watch is sized perfectly for my 6.5” wrist, and it tends to disappear after only a few minutes of wearing. It’s comfortable for all day wear with no problems. I even wear it when I’m flying!

I purchased mine from EBay for about $850 after shipping and tax. If you can find one for the right price, I can’t recommend it enough!

That’s really good advice. The G-shock gets a lot of time for sure

That’s crazy helpful. If I can get it under $1k that’s such value. I love that dial too. I already have a white dial SPB diver so I’m looking for the black dial for some contrast.

No problem Tim, I am sure you will get your GS and cannot wait to see it and hear your thoughts.

I second Aherzfeldt’s response. This past spring, I purchased an SBGX005 this spring for under $800 (shipped!) from Japan. It looked brand new and came with its original box and papers. You just need to be diligent and patient and you can score one in excellent condition and at an excellent price.
