Vario 1918 issues.

I wore this watch almost nonstop for a good year. It’s been mountain biking, motorcycling and swimming. It always performed flawlessly, until one day it fell off of my bed. After that the oscillating rotor wouldn’t move. I assumed I’d bent a pinion in the automatic works.

Upon removing the case back, I discovered that the actual cause of the issue was a screw lodged under the rotor. Somehow one of the movement securing clamp screws unthreaded.

The watch is now back in working order.

Falls of any height onto floors, especially hard flooring are hard on any watch, regardless of price point.

Hopefully you can get it working.

They are definitely hard on mechanical movements. It’s a lot of Gs for those tiny pinions.

The watch is working fine now.

Well done yourself sir! Must've been very satisfying to have discovered and fixed the problem without resorting to the expense of a watchmaker!

I've been a hobbyist watch repairer for a while, so I decided to give it a lash myself before sending it to Vario. It's actually still under warranty lol.

Well done, glad you got it fixed

Glad you got it working again 👍

Bikes motorcycles vibrations in general take a g shock

My Rolex would have needed half the servicing had done so

Yeah. Honestly, with just the sheer practicality that quartz movements provide is a reason I’m critical of WISes that demand every watch be a mechanical, tho ofc it is very appropriate for this watch.

Everything all good, mate?

Things are grand. I’ve repaired the watch and it’s been working flawlessly since.

Glad to hear it was a quick and easy fix. Did you check the rest of the screws while you had it open? Amazing what can cause a problem.

·

The rest of the screws looked good from a visual inspection. I checked the other case clamp. I’m not sure what caused the screw to rattle loose, perhaps some of the vibration the watch has experienced.

It doesn’t take much to stop a movement. I quite enjoy troubleshooting and repairing them.
