Wrist measure

So my wrist measures 6 3/4" in diameter, but 40mm watches look a little large on my wrist. So thought a better measurement is the top width which I measure at 2 3/8" So my wrist may be more round vs oval. Does anyone else have round wrists and any standard measurement to suggest watch sizes with round wrists?

At least you now know that 40mm isn’t to your liking.

What’s the lug to lug measurement of the watch you have on?

The other thing to note is the dial size. You will probably find a 40mm/41mm diver ok.

Good points made. It’s not the wrist circumference but the flatness of the wrist.

Looks like the 39mm Seiko 5 field and it is 48mm lug to lug but wears more like a 46mm on the wrist. OP can definitely pull off most Seiko divers measure 41/42mm if this Seiko 5 looks fine on his wrist.

Anyone old enough to remember when none of this stuff mattered?

Calipers for the wrist?

What hath God wrought?

Calipers for wood working and trivial talking points. Doesn't really matter in the grand scheme. Much like tie width, lapels, cuff size, hem lines. Did my inquiry offend you?

Interesting - never it considered much. But when I was applying for my 'tiny wrist badge' I realized I really needed side profile pic.

My flat wrist looks bigger than it is from the top. It's basically a 2D wrist, dead flat on top and about... 3cm? in depth. Slightly sub 6 in circumference. For fun, I'll try the caliper thing later.

Emphasizes why trying on is so critical. I sometimes like bonkers big watches, but if I had a rounder wrist I'd probably be wearing way smaller.

43mm - kaboom! 😉

I'm the opposite. 7" inch wrist but extremely "flat", so I'm able to get away wearing larger watches than you'd expect. Reasons like these are why I'm adamant to try watches on a few times before buying!
