Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Began wearing a watch, presumably a Casio F-91W at the ripe age of 8 year old. Wore it mainly because everyone around me wore one, and always thought being on time(yes, even at 8) was vital. Since then I’ve owned a fair share of g shocks, fashion watches and cheap knock offs. Since then I’ve gained a greater appreciation for quality, design and proper craftsmanship behind watches.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Casio F-91

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Grand Seiko SBGR 309. It’s a watch in memory of a great friend who passes prior to Covid. He always spoke highly of the brand and unfortunately never had the opportunity to own one. He was a Japanese national and a die hard supporter of all things “made in Japan”. I made it a mission to save up the money and buy the watch. Ever since buying the GS, I’ve been mesmerized by the quality and finish of the watch and is a constant reminder of all the great times I had with my friend. It will always and forever stay in my humble collection until I eventually pass and passed down to the next generation.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

I have many. Don’t buy everything all at once, please!!! It’s not IKEA furniture or H&M clothing. The fun is in the process of the purchase; doing the research, understanding your style, reading up on the brands(history, thinking and rethinking the purchase, saving up the money, etc. DO NOT buy on credit or put yourself in debt for watches!!! Find a watch and save for it!!! Make sure that when you finally decide to buy it, it’s something you’re not going to resell once you get past the honeymoon stage. Stay away from trends. Buy what you like and not what others say is great, but do you’re due diligence to avoid crappy watches. Craft a wish list-this allows you to think about the watches you want and to cross out the ones you no long desire to own. Buy the best watch you can afford. Don’t settle for something that’s “good enough”. Avoid “fashion watches”. Think about the dangers of owning a particular watch in certain cities. Ex:I’d avoid wearing a Richard Mille or AP in Los Angeles. Think about the upkeep costs of owning many automatic or high complication watches. Please don’t rush into building a fast watch collection. A true quality and meaningful collection is one that’s curated over years and decades with much thoughtfulness behind it. Don’t buy to flex, buy it because you love the watch. Stay humble and avoid watch snobbery. That’s what makes watch collecting suck!!! Be true to you.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

A Lange and Sohne, H Mosser. I can only dream🤔✨.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

A Lange Zeitwerk. I love the idea that’s it’s a digital watch, but and automatic watch. I’m addition, the concept is derived from a clock in a German opera house. Did I mention the incredible movement visible through the clear caseback?
