A little bit in love - held off on this for a long time as Citizen at RRP is not for me. Got a very good deal on this and - several expletives later (after sizing the f&*$er - pin and collars - ugh!) - I’m loving it so far!

There is a v similar series with only 200m WR and with a radio controlled movement, perpetual calendar, etc. (which includes a number of colour ways and for example ref PMD56-2952). This does have a cleaner handset.

Or there’s a perpetual calendar not radio controlled series including for example PMT56-2712. Again with a different handset.

Or yet another series - not radio controlled - including for example BM8560-88EE.

I remember tying myself in knots awhile back trying to zero in on what I really wanted and why. To be honest I can’t recall why I landed where I did but I think it was a combination of dimensions, WR and not bumping up too closely against other watches I have.

Citizen and Seiko can swamp me a bit at times with so many closely related watches but I imagine it’s only enthusiasts who dwell on it with regular customers probably not even noticing.

Hi. Just been into a local AD and looked at this watch. I was surprised at how large the font on the dial was. Did it take much adjust to the size of the font to perhaps some of your other watches ?

Hadn’t really thought about it but just looked across both my gallery and your gallery and it is definitely the case.

One of the things I really like about the watch is the great legibility and I think that comes from a combination of things including the simple dial, the handset, the black and white contrast and the large numbers. So in that respect I just put it on enjoyed that and didn’t think about the numbers as a thematic aspect until now …

In some ways it reminds me of the Glashutte Original, which also has large numbers but only has the even numbers.

I wear it very much as a daily and it’s great for reading the time at a glance.

When I first got it the bracelet was a bit squeaky and I was going to try to identify precisely where it was squeaky and apply some drops of silicone spray to stop the squeak. But it seems to have stopped doing that just through regular wear.

If the size of the numbers bothers you rather than just strikes you then I would hold off. I have or have had a few watches with things that bother me and they tend to continue to bug me rather than recede.

Very best

Fantastic and thoughtful reply. Thanks for your time. I’m retiring at the end of the year and am looking at maybe a couple of watches or just the one ( Tudor Ranger) Have a great day.

Congratulations on the retirement and good luck on the celebratory watch hunt - enjoy the journey.

I like a lot about Tudor watches and think they are fairly priced (compared to their cousin) but too often the handset isn’t for me (definitely not a snowflake fan) and the Ranger hour hand doesn’t quite work for me. I’m hoping that one day they come out with something that grabs me. I quite like some of the watches in the “Glamour” range though that name definitely puts me off.

Like you I am celebrating retirement and have spent a long time enjoying mulling over a watch to mark the occasion. I have just zeroed in on the Grand Seiko SBGY009 as it covers a heap of bases for me. I think it’s taken at least 12 months of cogitation and the watch should arrive in February so I am pretty stoked.

Hope you have as much fun as I have had on the journey and here’s hoping our choices help us enjoy long, healthy and happy retirements!

What’s the reference number of this particular watch? I noticed that it has 300 m WR rating, which seems higher than others have seen like this.
