Ever have a strap "make" a watch for you?

I bought the Jack Mason Dr Pepper GMT collab. It's a fine watch, but not exactly my favorite watch in my collection and it was going to struggle to get wrist time. However, I've paired it with a Watches of Espionage NATO, which just seems to really elevate the watch in my eyes.

What's even stranger is that it's not even that perfect of a match in some ways. The strap itself is more olive and the accents on the watch are more beige, but it still works.

That’s beautiful! I’m so glad you found a combination you like and you’ll be wearing it more! Congratulations! 🌈

Yes. Almost always. I have very few watches on their original straps. Half the fun is working out what will work best with the dial.

A beige-red would absolutely crush it. The olive works well though!

Yes. This Seiko SPB-243 J1 comes with a stainless steel bracelet. Before I even received the watch, I was sourcing a NATO strap that matched the brownish tones of this watch.

As this is part of the “1959 Alpinist Reimagined Modern Reinterpretation” collection (yes that’s literally what it’s called), I felt that the modern steel bracelet just didn’t match the dial and case styling.
