Happy Monday…
This morning I grabbed my phone and brought up NIST. I grabbed my Glyine, popped the crown out. I spun the hands, watched the date flip to todays date. Set the hour to 6, the minutes to 50. The seconds hand directly over 20, I patiently waited for the precise moment to push the crown in.
NOW!!!
The seconds hand stayed at 20…. Instantly I knew what happened.. I gave the crown a few winds, the seconds hand started moving along. Few more winds for good measure.
How many seconds off am I? Who cares… it’s Monday.

Exactly…it’s Monday.
Yeah, I always stop the seconds hand at 0 (or bit before or after if compensating for a known fast or slow movement).
But yes, I've attempted to set an unwound watch quite a lot too.
Bro. Your a better man than me. I don't remotely that close. I mostly have automatics. When I put one on I shake it to get it running. Then I set the date, set time to the minute (or close to it) and I don't bother with the second hand ever.
I don't do much where I have to that perfect with the time besides I'm usually early.

I grab and go most days. Every now and then I’ll do a precise set.

If I was compulsive about hacking at 0, I probably would have noticed it wasn’t running.
Ah, the convenience of automatic watches! 🙄

Sometimes there's just enough energy to get the seconds hand to 0, but not enough keep it going after setting.

I tried setting the time with the NIST one time. It was a lot of time and effort wasted, for me, to get the time within a second or two.
