RUINED!

It’s been one of those weeks. You know, the ones that take everything out of you. I don’t usually wear the 84 Seiko to work. I really needed the pickup though. I still smile a little every time I look at this watch.

There’s a lot of hazards but I’m always super careful. I just commented about being extra careful with this watch yesterday.

As I enjoy a mid day snack I look down at my watch and see the tiniest dot of peanut butter on my ostrich strap. I quick dab with a napkin, but the damage is done. You can see the dark dime sized stain from the oils.

I guess I should have seen it coming. Perfect way to end the week.

Look at it from a different perspective. The watch already had character. Now it has even more 🥰

It’s a reminder that you can have bad weeks but life still goes on. Look at it as a positive. Beautiful watch BTW 💯

I mean this 100% seriously. Why not put peanut butter on the whole strap and "dye" it this darker color? Make the best of a bad situation. Plus you get to eat more peanut butter so it's a win-win. That is what I would do in case you are wondering.

I think it adds character. If it really bothers you, maybe try an ostrich leather cleaner/conditioner. I’ve had good results with leather honey.

@Meglos and @Rekaiwatch that was actually my first thought is I’m going to have to butter the whole thing. Possibly on week when things aren’t so … rough.

I did consider leaving it as a character mark too. It’s the first one on this watch from me.

You can search online for various tips to get oil stains out of leather: saddle soap, cornstarch, talcum powder, etc.

But even if you do nothing over time the stain will fade and the leather will darken with age.

·

I was going to say just smother peanut butter over the whole strap 😁 but ye this is a better suggestion!

·

Organic oils like that break down in sunlight. That spot may just fade in a couple of weeks. (Or use the leather conditioner and make it a shade darker, even that will fade.)

Exactly what I got…

I have saddle conditioner for my Harley, I have leather conditioner for car seats. I could use those but google is telling me coconuts oil?

I know on guitar fretboards using a food based oil is a big no. What about leather?

That just looks expensive 💸

Leather conditioners for things like baseball gloves brag that they are not petroleum based. I assume that means an organic oil of some sort.

Dawn dish soap is a wonderful degreaser. Try that then use a conditioner all over to make it uniform as that might darken it some.
