Not sure on the year,model name or the dial originality.he says he bought it in Germany in the 90s.
Paid a guy $220 who was desperate for cash today.

This is from the period when all Glashütte watchmakers were (forcefully) united by the East German government under the name GUB (Glashütte Uhrenbetriebe). If your seller bought it new in the 90s it’s from the ‘Spezimat’ range. GUB watches are sold from as low as $50 to a couple of thousand bucks. Not familiar with the particular model you bought, but $220 seems like a good price!
