Hey Larry! I understand your point about the dial appearing busy. However, photos can sometimes distort the true legibility. In person, when you view the dial directly, the hands stand out sharply against the background. Their high black polish gives them a distinct black appearance that contrasts beautifully with the white dial, enhancing legibility. I'll share another picture below to show the difference and how it actually looks when worn.

I agree in person it is stunning. I have a strange issue when buying another watch..I need to be able to read the time..LOL Even one of my Daytonas is a challenge to read , to busy of a dial. but heck this is just a crazy hobby...Enjoy your watch....

It's quite interesting you mention the Daytona. I used to think it was quite legible until I experienced the GMT-Master II Sprite’s black lacquer Maxi Dial with those bold white lume plots—it's a game-changer. It didn't hit me with my YM37 due to its smaller size, but the contrast is so striking on the 40mm Maxi Dial. It's all in the nuances of design, isn't it?
