So both the Seiko and Orient are good. But there’s no model shown for the Seiko5. If it’s a diver you’re after, you’re better off with the Orient since it’s water resistant (in laboratory testing) up to 200m. I think the Seiko5 is only rated to 100m. That being said, are you planning on ever diving to either of those depths?

No im not planning into diving with anyone one of these , thats why seiko 5 is in my list as its only 100m water resistant. However is there any noticeable difference between saphire crystal and a hardlex glass ?
Sorry if I missed the specs…yes, sapphire is significantly better than hardlex. All high end watches use sapphire as its universally recognized as the best material for these applications.

The Seiko just came out in a smaller size if that is interesting.
The Orient is probably more of a true diver. And cheaper? Seiko is more of a house hold name and the history of the Seiko 5 and the SKX-case probably gives more watch nerd cred.
Both are great. Get the one you like or something completely different. What we think should not count in to the decision really 🙂
The Orient is a better value here but it is a large watch and only suits if you have a 7.5 inch wrist or larger. The lug to lug is 51mm on this model. If you have a large wrist go for it.
The Seiko is more suitable for different wrist sizes. If you just want a diver aesthetic then it would be fine. You only miss out on the sapphire and the 100m will be fine for day to day activities.
Since you’re new to watches, I’m going to float some unsolicited (but I hope appreciated?) advice your way.
Whichever watch you go for, make sure you shop around before buying. You can almost certainly find both at significantly less than MSRP on sites like Amazon and Jomashop. Happy hunting!

It would be your choice but I would take the Orient.
