Vintage Doxa from early 70's

This piece belonged to my grandfather and it pulled me in a rabbit hole of vintage watches.

Sure, this piece is most important in my collection and it sees my wrist just in special ocassions, but it's hard not to wear it.

Feel free to share your heirloom watch. 🙂

The Doxa looks amazing, love the numerals and white dial. It also looks like more modern sized.

This the watch of my grandpa:

It’s a German solid gold quartz 33mm Dugena from the early 80s. He got it for 25 years as a coal miner.

Gorgeous Dugena and condition is very nice. 🙂 My Doxa is also 33mm, I just have a small wrist. 😁 But I find 33mm to be perfect size for a dress watch.

That is very nice, and the backstory is really great. Well done, sir.

Beautiful Doxa and Dugena @Pascal! I'm a little late to the party but here goes:

My uncle gave me this watch a few years ago and told me it was my grandmother's, but she didn't wear it anymore. Given the age and size I suspected it might have originally belonged to my grandfather. Sure enough while watching some old home videos from the late 60s/early 70s I spotted him wearing it on multiple occasions!

The watch is in desperate need of some work, not only is that lug bent but the crown has recently fallen off. I'll be sending it in to Longines soon and hopefully they can get me more info on who purchased the watch, when, and where!
