Zodiac super seawolf and bargain temptations

I was on Facebook marketplace today looking at watches (a very dangerous thing to do) and found a nearly brand new Zodiac super sea wolf zo9250 for 800cad. This is a watch that costs usually 2kcad, and one that I quite like. Obviously the idea of owning a watch like that but paying so little was very tempting. However, I wanted to wait a week or two to decide. I told the seller I wasn't expecting him to hold on to it for me or anything, but a few passive aggressive comments from him leaves me with the impression he was not too happy with my decision to wait. Anyway, I guess I'm just writing here to ask others if they have had similar situations and also find resisting so hard. Did I do the right thing by waiting? Even if it means missing out on what seems to be a really good deal? I feel now like I would love to own the watch I just know impulse buying would be a bad idea... and $800 is a fair chunk of change.

You did the right thing. A deal that looks too good to be true probably is. The seller probably wanted to move it quickly for one reason or another.

Yeah as soon as he started seeming impatient I got really suspicious. It still hurts passing up what seems like such a good deal, even if I know it's the right thing to do so it's good to hear others confirm it lol.

There's currently Super Seawolf stocked in TJ Maxx stores in the US and priced in the $400-$500 USD ($550-$680 CAD) range, depending on the particular model for sale. The parent company of TJ Maxx also owns the Winners stores in Canada. It's possible the seller is simply trying to quickly flip the watch before his credit card payment comes due. In any event, if you don't have the funds or otherwise don't feel comfortable, the best course of action is to walk away.
