Let’s see those strap buckles!

This is a silly topic, but hey - this is a silly hobby! Let’s do it!

I love straps. I appreciate a good bracelet, but I have an affinity for straps and NATOs. One thing, among many, I love about straps is when a watch company puts some effort into the buckle. They can look so cool!

For example - (not my picture, credit OCWatchguy) check out the buckle on this vintage Vacheron:

How cool is this??!?

What cool buckles do you have in your collection? Let’s see em!

For your consideration, the buckle on my Seiko SJE085 Laurel Alpinist. I love the high polish S on the matte background

That is a sharp looking clasp!

Since you showed the vintage clasp, here's the new version! Pretty much the same, but mine is white gold. I love the maltese cross motif.

Oh that’s really cool. I’ve always really liked these clasps - far out of my price range, but just so cool. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, the detail on clasps is definitely an overlooked item, so nice idea for a thread. I'll post one more when I get home on my Grand Seiko. It has a nice little gold accent since it's a limited edition. I love these details.

Here's the GS logo on the clasp and it's gold for limited edition.

This is the only buckle type that's acceptable on a NATO - all those without sewn in buckles aren't NATO's, they're just cloth straps!! 🤔

Springbar retained buckles on a NATO really wind me up. 🤬Was disgusted & disappointed with my Omega NATO as it's a crap springbar jobbie. 🤯

Quite a long post and a bit off topic, but amazes me more folks don't realise (or maybe just don't care) their posh "NATO's" aren't doing what they're sole purpose is & are just "fashion straps"

Rant over 😂

This buckle has a spring bar and I don't care. I love the etching on all my straps from @Notawatchsnob at https://notawatchsnob.com/collections/straps

Quite the rant and hot take! I don’t necessarily agree, but I do appreciate that the types of NATOs you’re referring to are more secure. Looks good either way! Cheers

I will have to check out those straps - I like the color combo on the one you’ve shared! I must admit that I also prefer these natos with spring bar buckles since I can swap out the stock buckle for another one. Cheers!

Not about agreement or not, that's the specifications for a NATO strap, so everything else isn't one . 🤔

But just posted so folks are aware, because I'm sure most aren't. ...& surely lots of folks don't just buy for style but because that elimination of any chance of loosing or damaging their pride and joy.

To each their own, it's all good stuff 😄👍🏻👍🏻

I do agree that a cloth strap, wether true NATO or not do look good & are very comfortable 😄
