Sunrise over Kauai

Immensely grateful to be able to share this with my family and WatchCrunch. I could be wearing the biggest, ugliest, most inaccurate watch in the world and it wouldn’t make a difference.

For sure, I feel you.

Nice shots, Kevin! What a beautiful place. That sky is amazing.

Appreciate it my man. Visit Kauai if you get the chance. My pictures can’t accurately describe the sights and sounds. Epic mountain ranges, lush verdant forests, and Top 10 beaches with the sounds of crashing waves. Aloha.

I’ll make it out that way at some point. I have a good friend in Kauai that’s been trying to get me to come and visit. Hopefully in the next couple of years!

·

Been loving these updates. Wife and I will be on the big island in a couple days. Cheers!

Sand, sea and palm trees put me at ease. Seems like it's the same for you! 🍻

All credit to nature…I’m just getting in the way 🤣😂

·

Now that's what life is all a out. Ditch the watch, grab a drink, set your ass in the sand and enjoy the view. Priceless. Enjoy Kevin. You deserve it.

·

Gorgeous! Enjoy it.

Oh, beautiful pics! 👍

I keep thinking about how I can just live here full time 🤣😂

·

Are you retired? My perception is that it’s always vacation pics!

Well - it was a pleasant ride to work today - YVR sun in Autumn 🍂 - it’s quite lovely 🥰

Happy news tho’ - we’ve booked 5 days in Kehei just B4 Christmas so will get a short dose of Hawaiian love then (first time in 15 years! 🥲)

Wow, that's some stunning scenery right there!🤩👌

Yeah I work, probably too much for my own health. Work weird hours and flex time due to shifts and teammates across different time zones. I am far far from retirement. It’s just been on a lot of vacations recently as it matches up with the kids’ school schedules. Honestly, no one would be interested in my real life pictures as it involves a lot of digging literal holes and reprimanded/firing people. Sometimes people end up in the holes of their own making.

Kihei, Maui is great. It’s a delicate balance right now for them as the island is recovering from the wildfires but also need the tourist dollars to support the recovery.

My wife was quite worried about tourism being insensitive- but we heard the other day the reverse is true, and tourists were being welcome and desired again. So we booked.

Also will book some tours and adventures when we get there

Wow that looks amazing ☀️

Opinions differ depending on who you ask. Some folks will say people need more time to recover and heal. Others say healing and recovery only happens if the folks affected have the means to stand themselves up.

Being respectful and spending local while in Maui will help. Looking forward to seeing your adventure later this year.

I love the sunrise pics. Most people do the sunsets but sunrise tells more optimistic story about life.

As a 3 person Japanese/Canadian family, we are about the quietest politest and most moral guests any locality could ask for.

Loud and or obnoxious is our complete opposite.

But yes, I see many awful tourists when I travel, so understand the concern.

The mayor (or governor?) asked for tourists to return, but of course it depends who you ask.

I think our 5 day trip in 3 months probably doesn’t help or hurt anyone very much.

PBS newshour just did a piece on Maui and the complex issues it faces.

Many locals want a longer tourist hiatus - but with Maui economy loosing 13million a day since fires, and unemployment spiking, it’s a bit of a tough choice. The massive losses to the economy won’t help rebuild of course.

PBS interviewed many business owners that are sadly having to let go of staff since they aren’t making any money.

However:

if we hear it’s in-advised at the start of December (when we can still cancel and only loose 25% of trip costs) then we’d cancel, and regret we’d chosen Maui instead of Kauai😢

I wish this was planned but it just so happens the patio from my rental faces due east so sunsets it is. Funny thing is that I only need to drive 3 minutes to find the perfect sunset spot. Kauai is magnificent.

Yep, Japanese and Canadians are definitely the most polite and courteous people you will ever meet.

We met a couple of Karens in our trip and it was just gross. We went on a irrigation canal tubing adventure yesterday and our guide literally called them out. It was both funny and a learning moment for my kids. Don’t be like them.

Fantastic pics, and it proves there's more to life than watches😂 have a fantastic time.

Watches are really fun but insignificant in the grand scheme of things. 👍
