NEED HELP!! Huntin' for Sumthin' Steel!
WC Folks (and more specifically Seiko Heads):
I love that the SPB239 is an absolute strap monster 👹. Honestly, it was one of the reasons why I got this piece, second to its looks (i.e. faux patina, sepia tones, vintage inspired, dimensions). However, there are days I sooo wish that it came with a steel bracelet!
Off into the interweb I went. Most of what I saw were Reddit posts about using the SPB143 bracelet, accepting that:
- the end links are not perfectly flush against the case; and
- there is a slight color variance/discrepancy between the case and bracelet (either Seiko's or other aftermarket).
Any tips or advice are welcome... 🍻 in advance and Happy Saturday!!

I’m not sure Uncle Seiko is the best choice. I have their beads of rice, and it’s ok; but I really like Strapcode better. The quality of strapcode is just another level.

I’m not sure Uncle Seiko is the best choice. I have their beads of rice, and it’s ok; but I really like Strapcode better. The quality of strapcode is just another level.

So this is my SPB239 with the stock 62mas bracelet from the factory that is available for other models like the 143 etc. I picked this up along when I purchased the watch and mine fits snug without any wiggle and there is no mismatch of color with Seiko bracelet since it is treated with the same diashield coating.
The starpcode bracelet color difference between the case and bracelet is quite obvious. I had bought the super-o bracelet and returned it because of how bright the appearance was against the watch case. Unclestrap bracelet seems to come close to Seiko bracelet in terms of color but you still notice the slight difference. Diashield coating almost makes the steel look like titanium so it is hard to mimic for aftermarket sellers. Unclestrap oyster bracelet would be my aftermarket choice if you going to get one for the watch and don't want to be bothered by the color difference.

Definitely doesn't jangle. Its a solid bracelet and has a quite a bit of heft because the links are about 3.5mm thick. It tapers to only 18mm and for me personally I prefer less tapering on my tool watches especially when the lug width is 20mm cause it balances the watch quite nicely on the wrist.
The clasp is long cause of the divers extension but my wrists are on the larger side so it doesn't bother me and I like the thin clasp, its stamped but the metal is thick and inner is milled. The flip lock doesnt shut tight and may make some sound rarely but nothing loud enough to complain. Also you get 4 micro adjustment holes so enough to get a good fit.
Its personal choice but you can also replace it with aftermarket 18mm clasp without divers extension easily. I did try with a clasp like that from the photo but the color difference bothered me and I went back to the Seiko clasp.
The watch looks too good on any straps so I rotate the straps quite often with my SPB239 but I always end up putting the bracelet back on after a day or two.
