Hi everyone. I only just found this place but I'm loving it so far. This is my daily driver. I've had it for roughly 22 years and it's never missed a beat. However, my eyesight isn't what it once was and I'm looking for another watch in the same style, only bigger. I'm also considering buying whatever I need to upgrade the glass to a domed sapphire crystal. How easy a job is that? As you can see it's on a leather strap and I think it lends the watch a certain class. However, I don't want to break something that isn't broken.
Also, what's the best way to clean a watch? This watch just goes in the washing machine with my jeans (cold, no detergent). It hasn't done any damage but I'm sure it's not very ethical.
Anyway, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The watch into the washing machine 😳😳😳😳

Aye, on a cold wash & in a zipped pocket. My Casio MW-200 gets the same. My Mondaine gets treated with kid gloves but it broke. Go figure. 😉

Spot on!
Lorus is such an underrated brand under Seiko. I had one in the past and sad I lost it. Going get another one now thatsee this one . Thanks . Casio right now is my go to watch.
For something bigger in the same style, you may want to look at Glycine's Combat Vintage line. They're 43mm, and come with sapphire installed. Only 50m WR though, so I wouldn't suggest sending one through the washing machine.

Hi Gordon, 22 years and still looks great! What an amazing watch to last that long. For cleaning you can buy a cheap ultrasonic cleaner for about 20 Euros or so. A toothbrush and soapy water also works well. Fitting a new sapphire is easy if you have the tools, a watch guy should charge about 10 euros. I have been to Avignon and loved it, the people were friendly and had lunch (baguettes filled with cheese - what else) up the hill on the Jardin des Doms.

Thanks my friend. It actually looks much better than the ones I've seen reviewed on YouTube. I've no idea why. For me a watch only has to do one thing; be legible at a glance. I'm actually in a small town outside Avignon called Saint-Rémy-de-Provence but no-one ever knows where that is. 😂

That does look very nice (especially in blue) but I'm at the budget end of watches sadly. My Lorus was £30 new. I know, cheapo. 😂

Just been looking at photos on google maps, if I am ever your way I am visiting Saint-Rémy-de-Provence it looks amazing. Saved to my "must visit" bookmarks !

Nothing wrong with budget.

Do you think a jeweller would be able to source a sapphire crystal for my watch and fit it too?

They should. Most go by the route of getting an exact measurement and then AliExpress and usually about £20. As your watch basically a Seiko I am sure it will be able to source. I stand corrected of course but if it was me go to a watch guy, see what he says and if not go down the AliE route.

That sounds like good advice, thanks. I'll need to brush up on my French watch-speak.

I have found that on my trips to France after murdering their language they laugh and help me out.

That would be normal if only I hadn't lived here for the last eight years. 🤔
