I came across a YouTube video yesterday were a Tudor black bay bronze was being complained about as having a smell (a stink was the term used
) I find it hard to believe a manufacturer would make a product that would have a noticeable odour!!! I know certain raw metals do have a smell when close up ,but watches?
Hands up who sniffed their watch?

ItâÂÂs the copper. Back when pennies were solid copper, they would develop a fairly strong smell from being handled. The tin component doesnâÂÂt really have a smell, though tin does have some other interesting properties.
Probably the built up dead skin on the watch. That's a serious watch collector.
Of my 5 bronze watches exactly zero have an odor.
The same number have turned my wrist green.
Bronze SMELLS.
The same reason bronze gets that neat looking patina. It's a reactive metal forming copper salts. The fats and acid in your skin form compounds that have a smell. I also hate the scent of pennies.

Exactly! And this is why I hesitate to get a bronze watch no matter how nice it may look once it starts to develop a patina. I've also come to hate the smell of brass after owning some plated brass cases in my youth.
Have never actually sniffed a watch ... and have never had the desire to do so either! LOL!!!
Someone need to “wash your hands” 😂
