With Chrono's, do most people leave the second-hand centered at the top or do they let it run for daily use? Also, does letting it run significantly lower the power reserve on a mechanical or automatic ? I'm debating a few different panda style chronographs.

Not a dumb question at all. The answer, like many things in life is: it depends. If you are looking at a Chronograph with a horizontal clutch (i.e. Valjoux 7750), the answer is that running it at all times will cause excessive wear on the chronograph wheels. On the other hand, if you have a vertical clutch chronograph (a la the Breitling B01) not running it will cause wear. Either way, power reserve reduction will occur, but not to an extreme extent — it’s more about lack of torque to run the extra gearing.
