Can you build a collection for the price of an Apple Watch? ๐Ÿง

I realize that $400 for the base Apple Watch may be a tad limiting. So I turned it up a notch and made it $800 for the Apple Watch Ultra. Let's see what you Crunchy Bunch can come up with

(I just copy and pasted my comment from YouTube)

The price of an Apple Watch Ultra is $799. That gives me plenty of money to play with. Personally I'm an Aragon fan so I'm starting off with what I already own which is the DiveMaster 4 Evo with the MoP dial. I got mine for $160 but they are currently $130. Next is the Millipede Evo NH35 for $230 which will be my head turner watch with it's funky bracelet. For a chronograph I will go with the Antigravity Swiss Chrono with the 8040n. That costs $200. The last Aragon is the Caprice NH35 which is a field watch for $109. Four great big man watches for less than an Apple Watch Ultra ๐Ÿ˜Š

Pretty sure I could get a decent collection for the OG $400. And it wouldn't be just homages either.

Might be some used eBay finds, DEFINITELY a Vostok, maybe some Joma Seiko 5's...

But one could do it most def.

Any particular watches that you would buy?

Pick from

Vostok Driver ($129-$150) and/or Vostok Pam-phibia ($250)

Casio G Shock Tough Solar Waveceptor ($100 new, $50 used)

Used Orient Mako Gen I ($125US)

SeikoRX Arabic integrated ($100 from Joma) or

Orient Tristar Arabic ($50 used off eBay)

Mix and match to get under $400.

Just off the top of my head.

You'd have to be patient. And if you went all used, you could get all of them, and maybe throw in the Orient Defender Gen I used. (However, BLUFF, I absolutely HATE setting that thing, but it does look good, and is one of the only Orient "field" styles.)

Didn't watch the video so don't know if they were wanting the ubiquitous 6 watch collection.

IMO, a solid 3-5 would be fine.

Oh this was fun! I took the 400$ challenge and went on the used market, saved a bunch of cash there so:

  1. The Beater (Casio Royale-33$, new)

Image

2. The Daily/Dress watch (Seiko 5- 55$, used)

Image

3. The Diver (Orient Kamasu-165$, used)

Image

4. Finally, the Chronograph (Tissot V8 quartz-143$,used)

I went down the non homage route on purpose, with used Paganis and Steeldives the list could be longer, there would be more variety and quality but I think this collection is pretty great for the money, covers all bases, good balance between quartz and mechanical, there are some colors going on and you get Japanese and Swiss names on your wrist.๐Ÿ˜

You could do 4 NH35 watch builds for 400 bucks easy.

I just wanted to see how we would take the challenge. Heck I cheated and used the Ultra ๐Ÿคฃ

Awesome choices ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ

Honestly, these kind of thought exercises are not only fun, but good information for those wanting, or just getting into the insanity that is watches.

$400, or $800, building what if collections help those around here who are new, or much younger in life, get exposed to brands and models that are our there. Also maybe a little more feasible for errbody.

Still fun to do the win the lottery questions, but the smaller, affordable section is just as fun. Plus it's fun to just see how low you can go...๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค๐Ÿป

Good idea @SimonB ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป.

Definitely a good collection. One on wrist and three in the watch roll. More than solid ๐Ÿ˜
