I remember reading this when it came out. Fascinating look into what thought process goes into these selections.

Funny how they didn't mention that one of the kids on Stranger Things was wearing an AliExpress calculator watch with the red button on it which was glaringly anachronistic until they gave him a Casio instead.

For those of us who were alive at the time, the Casio Calculator watches available in 1981 were the C-60, C-70, and C-80 (which most people had), and metal versions called C-701, and C-801. The next year, Casio added alarms and we got the CA range (some of which had a numbers game too), and the infamous CA-50, CA-55, and CA-53 appeared during the mid-80s.

It's funny, I was in high school back then and remember thinking all the Casios were horribly ugly and "so nerdy." I wore a Fossil watch to look preppy back then. (Fossil was better then than now, but still.) Now I love Casio and can't get enough. Revenge of the Nerds! 😜
