Most popular watch designs?

Hi everyone,

I would like to know what are your opinions about what high-end watch designs have been the most popular in recent years.

A lot may argue Rolex has the most popular designs. However I would challenge this, and argue that Rolex watches are popular very much because of the brand - not just the design.

I'm interested in taking the brand (and similar factors) out of the question here, and focus solely on the design, style, appearance of high-end watches.

What are your thoughts?

Really don't like the current fad for Gerard Genta integrated bracelet designs.

Divers are the most popular, for me it's the added peace of mind knowing that my watch is far more robust than I am . Design wise I don't like the American navy's diver spec indices (round dots & dashes/triangles like the sub and most generic divers) I dunno why,I just find circular indices really visually jarring. Weird..

Tank is the most contrarian and timeless watch design imo. Dive watch design has been the most popular though for a good reason

The so called "sports watches", hands down. I'll add dive watches too and chronographs in that category too, because they're not used for their original purpose anymore and they share similar characteristics: Rugged, but with enough elegance to go with a suit.

And for a good reason: They indeed are versatile. Also, as the world is less and less formal, dress watches are becoming more niche.

Eh, no. Sorry. Disagree. The submariner is the most sought after watch in the world, and it owes its success to the design, not just the brand. And my statement is corroborated by the fact submariner homages sell like hotcakes. The same can be said about a lot of Rolex models. They just know how to design a watch.

I think dive watches and integrated bracelet watches have REALLY had their time in the sun as of late. Everywhere I go on YouTube, it's people talking about the Tudor Black Bay's, Tissot PRX, Christopher Ward The Twelve, etc. But I think that this year, either GADA watches or just more dress-oriented watches as a whole will become the new trend.

+1. Sports watches in general, with simple divers and integrated bracelet designs being the most popular.

Dress watches will make a comeback eventually, but it'll take a while I think.
