I am not sure. I have a Pro Trek with the same lug screws, and the G Shock GMWB5000 I sold a few months ago also had them. I never could figure out how to loosen them. I tried to use two screwdrivers but could not get them loose. Hopefully other Crunchers will be of more help than me. 😂
Unless there's some hidden mechanism under the band, the only possible approach is to use a screwdriver on both screws. When you say "the screw will not turn," that means you're not using enough force. Just be sure that you use the right size blades or you may strip the screw head.

Thank you for the tips. I don't think force is the problem; the only reason I can see is that the screws are very tight and/or my screw drivers are too small
I tried to use two screw drivers and had no luck. Extremely tight. If you figure it out please let me know.
I plan on taking it to a local watch shop to change out the strap and see what tools/method they use. Haven't been able to get anything done on it with two standard micro flatheads.
You need two screwdrivers. one to prevent the bar from turning as you remove the screw. removed my strap a week or so ago in order to try out a nato. Be careful, the screw is quite small and comes free after 5-6 rotations.

Glad you were successful. Any chance you could share a photo/clip of the process?

Could they be reverse-threaded?
