BALL ENGINEER III MARVELIGHT 40mm

Have been fascinated by the tritium lume photos on line with Ball watches. Most have the green glow but I thought the blue might be better.

So found this one at a really good price on line. Delivered Friday & size adjusted the bracelet today. Really impressed with it.

However the tritium blue tubes are no where as bright as I thought they’d be. Having said that, you can read the time in total darkness.

Nice watch! I love the illumination of tritium tubes! It’s not glaring, just nicely consistent in darkness.

Yeah, it’s not as good as the advertising would have you believe either. Also, after about 12 years it really starts to drop off dramatically. By 25 it’s barely there. So, from a. Functionality perspective they’re not really heirloom pieces.

Surprisingly the photo looks brighter than how my eyes view it.

I’m not worried about tritium fading causing the Watch to not be an heirloom piece, and if it does bother my kids, they can have it replaced for a nominal fee.

The thing with the tritium is that you only notice it in the darkest of rooms, but as you pass into dim rooms, the dial is very legible as the tritium is still illuminating the indices.

This is a picture with 12 watches. No flash and I turned everything down to zero on edit:

Can you spot the two year old tritium watch?

Congratulations on a beautiful watch! Tritium lume is cool. In the middle of the night your eyes will adjust and that lume looks like a torch long after other watches stop glowing. Ball builds a great watch.

Great looking watch. Regarding the tritium, the brightness actually varies by color, with green being the brightest.

Thank you.

Yes I later found out blue wasn’t as bright as green. Still fantastic none the less 😀
