Durability of PVD black buckle

Anyone had experience of using a strap with a PVD black buckle from any manufacturer but especially Barton? Do they mark easily and how is their looks durability compared to a traditional silver buckle?

Got my eye on a couple of their Elite Silicone straps and think the black buckle blends in well when either of the colour layers is black.

I have a couple of straps from Barton with the black buckles, and I have not noticed any damage yet. I should note that I have only had them for a couple of months.

I am not sure about the specific PVD coating that Barton uses but in general Black PVD is very easy to scratch and below the coating is just a steel buckle.

The results of the scratches are very-visible-very-ugly. And considering that the name "Elite Silicone", it implies some kind of "adventure watch" and some scratches are expected, at least on the silver buckle they will look good.

Here is a simple article about it:

That is my worry. Buckles generally are prone to wear & tear probably more so than any other part of a watch and even with the care I take with all my watches, it’s bound to pick up some scratches.
I think you’ve just confirmed my suspicions and I’ll probably just er on the side of caution this time around.
