I can't answer as written. Some watches look best or require one type, and integral bracelet watches are stuck with them. Some watches are drawer queens while others are users. I love the look of leather, but get stuck wearing rubber because leather can't handle rain, sweat, washing hands, etc.
I live in Florida. Florida is a hot, humid swamp. I wore leather straps as a kid. They’d last a month or two. Then I switched to metal bracelets because they’re more practical.
I love a good NATO if the NATO is better than the bracelet. In my experience, if the watch is <$2000, a NATO is likely better than the bracelet. If it’s an Omega, Rolex, Tudor, or similar, the factory bracelet is probably awesome and better than a NATO for me.
