I forgot to post about this until I was reminded about it by @casiodean ‘s Sekonda post (by the way, I can corroborate what he says about getting one being an Xmas tradition here in the UK).
Anyhow, my wife (who is apparently less than enthusiastic about by watch hobby) decided she wants what she calls “a big f***-off watch” but wasn’t sure if it would be practical. Her idea was to buy a big but cheap watch to see how she got on with it size wise before looking at something a bit more expensive. It’s a 43mm Sekonda chronograph, was about £90 but she got it on sale for under £40.
She decided fairly she didn’t like as it was too big, said I could have it. I’ve put it on a blue rubber strap as the leather one it came with was a bit stiff. It’s got a brass case (apparently), chronograph seconds and minutes on the 6 and 9 o’clock subdials respectively, tachymeter inner bezel, 24 hour sub dial at the 3 o’clock, dark blue sunburst dial. It’s probably worth what she paid for it but it’s not terrible. I’d rather wear it than have it languishing in a drawer!
I am from Liverpool, live in Scotland with my wife and 2 young children. I’ve always worn a watch but never gave them too much thought. I wanted to get something to mark my 40th and happened to see so...
