Both great choices. I own both brands and am extremely pleased. Here are my thoughts for what it's worth.

  1. Assuming you don't have either an Omega or GS in your collection, go with the Omega. Excellent Swiss made watches with the history, pedigree and innovative tech to match. As many have already stated, the Omega AT is a very versatile watch.
  2.  If you already have Swiss watches and want to venture into new territory, go with the GS. Grand Seiko is amazing. They make excellent watches that have a purely unique and Japanese design language. In addition, I believe one can appreciate the build quality, fit and finish of GS a bit more if they have owned other fine timepieces. i.e. Comparing Zaratsu level polish vs standard polished cases in the metal is truly an experience.

Either way, you can't go wrong with these two amazing watches. Choose the one that makes you smile the most. Best of luck with your decision 👍

I subscribe to and watch many watch YouTubers. Mad respect for the time and effort it takes to make quality videos. Difficult to say why I like each one. But I do enjoy each one's "Point of View." It's great to learn about watches through their experiences and insights. Some of my favorites in no particular order...

I have two Islanders; ISL-18 and ISL-66. I have also purchased multiple straps/bracelets from Long Island Watch. Superb customer service. Islanders are excellent watches for their price point. Great specs and build quality. However, my main motivation for owning Islander watches is to support Marc Frankel. Marc contributes tremendous value to the watch community. He is authentic, transparent and he truly enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge. On top of that he seems to be very humble and lacks any pretentiousness sometimes associated with watch enthusiasm snobbery. I highly recommend Islander if you're on the fence. 👍
