My Mantle Clock

Someone on here posted their beautiful Hamilton Mantle Clock a couple of days ago. This is mine. It’s a Seth Thomas, 48J movement. Made somewhere around 1920. It’s been in my family for several generations now. It hasn’t been working, but, inspired by that other post I now have it up and running. It was an easy fix, the pendulum mechanism had come unhooked. Once it was rebooked and wound it has been running well. I has never been all that accurate, but it does have  a way to adjust it, so I’ll be doing some fine tuning. It’s nice to hear it’s chime again.

Seth Thomas made wrist watches for a brief time after they were acquired by Westclox. It is a beautiful old mantle clock.

Hi Robert, my first love is/was old clocks. If this hasn't been running for awhile it will need a little oil on the pinions. Super easy to do on these. Enjoy!

Beautiful!

My grandfather was the winner of this Hamilton quartz model in 1990 when he was still working at GE:

It takes a D battery and sat in their house on the Long Island Sound in Laurel Beach (Milford), Connecticut for many years, which explains the surface rust and sand. It is currently sitting in my office but only runs intermittently today, which tells me it needs a good service.
