Good plan! Hope you enjoy it. Mine is a Grand Seiko SBGN 005 GMT. I think the newer ones have more water resistance (200 v 100m) and a crown at 4. Other than that pretty similar. This is a GADA watch for me: it’s tough, attractive and excellent at what it does. A true GMT, with the main hands working off the interior twelve hour dial and the GMT hand reading from 24 hour dial on the nonrotating bezel. The GMT hand on mine is red, which sets it off well from the hour hand. The main hour hand has an easy quick set function with the crown pulled out to one stop, while the GMT hand remains on home time. Accuracy, +1-2 sec, every six months. I only reset this watch when I switch from Daylight to Standard time. After three years of use I hardly see a mark on the case and light scratches on the steel bracelet. The lume on the hands, GMT pointer and hour markers is very bright. Very little to complain about with this one. There’s the typical no micro adjustment on the otherwise comfortable steel bracelet, that’s about it. On short trips, this is the one watch I wear. It is a true ‘tool’ watch for me as I travel and often have calls in a separate time zone.

Thank you for the feedback! I actually had a Smiths true GMT and made life harder for myself not using the GMT hand for the local time. 😅 I actually found an AD that has new old stock of the SBGN005. I actually like it better than the newer version with the date window at 3:00. 😁

Good find! Truth be told I like my ‘old’ one better than the new one which I’ve seen at my AD. Of course I’m biased . . .

Anyway, no bad choices with this one.
